是台灣話(閩南話)老闆、僱主的意思。
“頭”本來指人體的最上面的部分，因為它是身體的首要部分，引伸為“為首的人”。
“家”的一般意義是家庭，但也用來表示具有某種身份的人或屬於某一類人。
店鋪的老板是帶頭經營管理店鋪的人，所以老板在台灣話(閩南話)叫做“頭家”。
在台灣的俚俗詞語，“頭家”也用來稱丈夫。

古時為父系社會，一家之主(首)常常是指男性，故也被用來稱丈夫(老公)。

版主結婚後覺得，一個家庭的和諧與否，男性占了相當的比重。
因為女性常常在聚會時討論婆媳問題，以及如何當個好老婆、好媽媽。
但私乎沒有男性會討論該如何當個好丈夫、好老公。
版主認為，如果不能當個好老公，勢必很難當個好爸爸。
